COVID POLICY

KHALKOB’S COVID POLICY DURING YOUR STAY

As you know, the way we travel looks a little different right now, so we wanted to ensure you had the latest list of our policies during your stay with Khalkob’s. All guests are required to adhere to all the laws of Belize while staying at Khalkob’s Estate.

Social Distancing:
Social Distancing continues to be a required practice in public settings. During your stay, please be mindful of other guests and employees and maintain the suggested six feet of distance. Gatherings at Khalkob’s outside of guests traveling as family is strictly prohibited.

Mask or face coverings:
In accordance with CDC and WHO guidelines, our government have mandated that mask or face coverings must be worn at all times in all indoor and outdoor public areas.

Temperature check:
Expect to have your temperature checked at our accommodation and everywhere you venture.

Curfew:
Presently a curfew is in effect commencing 8:00 pm and concluding at 5:00 am daily.

Hotel Services:
For your safety of both our employees and guest, regular housekeeping has been suspended. Housekeeping will only be done after you have checked out. You will be required to exist your room should there be the need for urgent maintenance.

Reduce face to face interaction:
Guests are encouraged to utilize the tablets that have placed in their rooms to communicate with the front desk/manager to avoid having to visit the office.

COVID 19:
In the event you contract Covid-19, you will be placed in isolation for a minimum of 14 days as required by the Minister of Health. Any additional cost or/and stay beyond your reservation will be at your expense. Please see our disclaimer at www.khalkob.com

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES – COVID 19

Khalkob’s Estate has prepared to welcome guests back to the hotel, we want to ensure that we are providing our guests with a safe welcoming and clean environment.

The purpose of this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) document is to confirm all the steps Khalkob’s is taking to focus on cleanliness and the practise of social distancing for the protection of our guests and employees.

We continue to monitor updates from our Government and Health authorities and this policy will be continually updated to ensure that all guests and employees have relevant and up to date information.

Hotel Check In

  • Pre-arrival letter will be emailed to all our guests asking that the attached pre-arrival health questionnaire be complete and returned to us via email, and that you indicate whether you will be needing pots and pans for cooking.
  • To ensure the safety of our employees and all the guests within the hotel we will require all guests to have their temperature taken upon arrival. Should your temperature be above 38C or 100.4 farenheit we will need to notify the health authorities and you will be isolated until further advised by the health authority.
  • Face mask are always required when outside of your room as mandated by the government with exception if you are swimming or seated in a restaurant. A fine of BZ$5000.00 payable if you are found in violation of this law.
  • All employees are required to wear a face mask during their shift.
  • Countertops at our office will be sanitised after every guest interaction.
  • Keys will be sanitised and placed in the guest bedroom prior to their arrival.
  • Hand sanitiser station will be available outside the main entrance of your room and throughout the compound.
  • Spray bottles with disinfectant and microfiber cloth will be available in the rooms.
  • Tablets are placed in each rooms for guests to communicate with front desk for any queries.

Hotel Check Out

  • We have a paperless check out.
  • Guests must notify the office via tablets when checking out and leave their keys on kitchen table.
  • Room keys will be sanitised prior to being used by other guests.
  • Our credit card machines will be sanitised after each use. Please note we discourage guests from using cash for the duration that the COVID-19 policy is in place.

Enhanced cleaning standard for all our rooms with a manager’s checklist to follow.

  • Khalkob’s Estate have implemented a clean room policy. This policy means no employee is to enter a guest’s room after it has been approved for guest arrival.
  • Laundry will be individually bagged in each room.
  • No daily servicing will take place should a guest require any fresh towels, linen or amenities these can be requested which will be place in a mesh bag on the guest door.
  • All toiletries available within a guest room will be single use and disposed of after each departure.

Enhanced Cleaning Standard

  • A selection of multi touch items have been removed including throw cushions, bed throws, pots, pans, blenders, toasters etc.
  • Key items with multiple touch points for example TV remotes will be sanitised and disinfectant spray will be supplied in all rooms should guest wish to use.
  • Iron and ironing boards can be requested and will be sanitised after each use.
  • Rooms will be cleaned once the guest has vacated and departed.
  • All rooms will have designated cleaning supplies to reduce cross contamination.
  • All bed linen will be removed and placed in laundry bags inside the room.
  • Our Housekeeping employees will follow a detailed cleaning plan in every room concentrating on all multi touch surfaces, switches, controls, furniture and bed linen.

Enhanced Managers Checklist

  • Once the room has been fully serviced our Housekeeping Supervisor will spend additional time checking all rooms are fully clean and ready for the new arrival.
  • Once the room has passed and checked by the Supervisor our room clean policy will be activated and no employee will be approved to enter your room prior to your arrival.

Walkways

  • Walkways have been posted with enhanced signage for guests to follow the social distancing guidance.

General Safety

  • All employees have been trained in the proper cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing procedures as it relates to safety guidelines – COVID 19.
  • PPE have been provided for all employees, dependent upon job roles.
  • Hand sanitisers readily available for staff use.
  • Sanitisers and disinfectant wipes have been supplied to the office to ensure workstation are cleaned before and after each shift.
  • All employee will be temperature screened at the start of each shift and this will be recorded.
  • Employees with any symptoms should not attend work or will be sent home to self-isolate and follow the Ministry of Health guidelines.
  • Employees should refrain from skin to skin or face to face contact with each other and guests.
  • Employees are always to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
  • Employees are required to change into uniform upon arrival to work and put on their apron during housekeeping.

PPE

  • All employees are provided with PPE inclusive of; Gloves, Masks and if required face shield.
  • It is the team members decision to wear the face shield.
  • All team members are trained on the use of PPE.
  • Gloves and mask are required when conducting housekeeping. Disposable gloves should be replaced regularly through a shift.
  • Reusable PPE to be cleaned after each use.
  • Disposable PPE to be disposed of immediately and correctly.

Hand Hygiene

  • Employees are encouraged to regularly wash/sanitize their hands throughout the day following Ministry of Health guidelines.
  • Hand washing facilities are available for all employees and relevant washing guidance has been displayed accordingly.
  • Employees are required to wash their hands on arrival before shift.
  • Hand sanitisers are in the office and around the compound.

Team Members Re-Induction

  • Before an employee return to work they would have read, understood and signed the COVID-19 SOP.
